TYPAR Commercial can beat harsh UV rays.We know large multi-family or commercial projects can experience prolonged construction timelines, which could lead to your building wrap being exposed to the hot summer sun for weeks on end. This kind of UV exposure can cause material degradation, leading to loss of tensile strength, delamination of surface layers and reduced water repellency of the WRB. But don’t worry, TYPAR Commercial has you covered with up to 365 days of long-lasting UV stability—that’s three months longer than the leading competitor. It can withstand high winds.Heavy wind gusts can rip away fastened building wrap during construction, especially in high-rise applications. And let’s be honest—it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence to drive up to a job site and see the building wrap torn away from the wall and flapping in the wind. TYPAR Commercial has five times the tear strength of competing building wraps, so it is much less likely to tear or puncture during installation or because of exposure to weather conditions.
By hitting the “sweet spot” in terms of permeability, TYPAR Commercial keeps moisture issues at bay.Building wraps protect healthy indoor air by acting as an air and moisture barrier, which is necessary to avoid mold issues. However, builders and contractors should also consider whether the WRB material is permeable enough to allow any moisture that does enter the walls to escape. Building scientist Joseph Lstiburek advises builders to aim for 10 to 20 perms when specifying a building wrap, as this “sweet spot” achieves the desired balance of moisture protection and breathability. They can be found in detergents, soaps, and other cleaning solutions used to power wash siding, making surfactants nearly impossible to avoid. TYPAR Commercial offers superior surfactant resistance and will maintain a high level of performance even if exposed to them.
TYPAR Commercial is part of a complete system of weather protection products backed by the only limited lifetime warranty in the industry.TYPAR Commercial is designed to work in tandem with TYPAR flashings, sealant and construction tape, so you’ll have the confidence of using a complete weather protection system on your next commercial or multi-family job. To back up our performance, when installed as part of a system, TYPAR Commercial is covered by a limited lifetime warranty covering materials and labor for structures up to three stories in height, and a 10-year limited system warranty for structures four or more stories in height.
